Kelim Gashgai Rug

The Gashgai are Turkic-speaking nomadic tribes living in the region around Shiraz in southwestern Iran. Kilims are flat-woven, reversible wool rugs with a characteristic slit weave. This technique creates small slits where the weft changes color. The rugs typically feature classic Gashgai motifs such as rhombuses, squares, stripes, and Caucasian star patterns.
